A step-by-step guide to your treatment at Dental Implants Luxmedica

Step 1: Initial Assessment & Planning
During your first appointment our implantologist will assess the implant site. He will be looking in detail at your bone, what teeth you have around the site and also any opposing teeth in your other jaw. He will want to understand what it is you are hoping to gain and what he can do to help you.
Whether it’s a single tooth implant or multiple teeth implants treatment, it must be carefully planned as each patient’s case is different.
To book you initial assessment with dr Karolina Wolowiec, call tel. 0203 757 9999 or send us an e-mail on info@luxmedica.co.uk

Step 2: CT Scan
Our implantologist will refer you for an Xray to get more detailed information about the bone at the implant site as well as the location of other vital structures.

Step 3: Treatment Plan
The doctor will prepare for you a treatment plan which will details. The implantologist will explain your treatment plan: the advantages and disadvantages of implants, and alternative treatments should you decide that implants are not for you.

Step 4: Pre-Implant Appointment
This usually takes place about a week before the implant placement. Dr Karolina will go through the procedure and risks, and the pre and post-operative instructions with you. Part payment will be required at the appointment to cover the costs of your custom made implants and the sterile drape kits for your procedure.

Step 5: Implant Surgery
The treatment will take place in our surgery. If during the appointment he finds that he needs to change the plan slightly, for example the bone is not quite wide enough, he will stop and discuss what he would like to do next.
After the appointment, the doctor will call you at home to see how you are feeling and answer any queries you may have.

Step 6: Removing Stitches
This takes place a week to ten days after placement. This is dependent on where the implant has been placed.

Step 7: Restoration & Crowns
The success of your treatment depends on the osseointegration of the implant into your bone. This process can take from 2 to 6 months and our implantologist will have told you what to expect in the treatment plan.
For a single implant there are two appointments involved: to take impressions and to fit the crown. If you are concerned about having a gap between appointments, the doctor will discuss with you temporary options so that you can feel comfortable knowing that the gap cannot be seen.
Step 8: Aftercare
To give it the best chance for lasting as long as possible, the doctor feels that you must see the hygienist regularly to have teeth and implants cleaned. Patients who look after their gums and see a hygienist regularly can enjoy their implants in the very long period of the time.
